Here are the top stories in Bedford today:
- Hazy smoke and oppressive humidity blanketed most of Southern New Hampshire yesterday as hundreds of Canadian wildfires burned out of control, but forecasters say things will improve on Tuesday. It will be a cooler, sunny day with a high of 78 and winds at 6 mph and clearing skies. Wednesday will be another pleasant day with sunshine, blue skies and a high of 78. See a real-time map of wildfire smoke here. (Bedford Patch)
- A shoutout to Girl Scouts Gold Award winner, Acadia Gelineau. Acadia's project teaches children how to cope with anxiety and stress through patch program instructional videos and wellness kits. Keep up the great work, Acadia! (Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains via Facebook)
- Grant Lavigne of Bedford was once again playing baseball in New Hampshire. The Bedford native arrived at Delta Dental Stadium playing for the Hartford Yard Goats. The Goats faced the Fisher Cats in a series of games, but it all came down to Fisher Cats pitcher T.J. Brock against Lavigne in the ninth inning of the last game. The score was tied 6 to 6, but Brock struck out Lavigne for a 7 to 6 win, cinching the series. What a game! (Yahoo Sports)
