- As the popular song says, "Baby, It's Cold Outside." So extremely cold, that the National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory for Bedford through 1 p.m. Saturday, with "dangerously cold winds" that can cause frostbite in seconds. The Bedford Public Library will serve as a warming and charging station, according to a recent post by the Bedford Police Department. See library hours and more safety information here: (Bedford NH Police Department via Facebook)
- A proposed New Hampshire bill would open a wine and beer hospitality class to students younger than 21. "Senate Bill 194, would exempt New Hampshire students who are under 21 but over 18, from criminal prosecution for underage drinking for tasting wine or beer, provided they were doing so as part of a class at an accredited college or university." "Sen. Denise Ricciardi, a Bedford Republican, asked whether students who had participated in wine-tasting lessons could face legal trouble if they later got in an accident after class." - The last time this celestial event happened was the Stone Age! For the first time in 50,000 years, the Green Comet will be visible in the Bedford night sky. To catch a glimpse of this rare event, find "a clear spot away from city lights" and look just above the horizon facing north. It's possible to see the blazing green comet with the naked eye, but "skywatchers will have an even better chance with binoculars or a telescope." (WMUR)
