Here are the top stories in Bedford today:

  1. Incredibly, Elise Poirier, who allegedly fled from deputies in Manchester by jumping into the Merrimack River two weeks ago, has been found alive. Authorities found Poirier Friday on Manchester's Westside and arrested her. Poirier jumped into the swift-moving river two weeks ago after deputies spoke with her about outstanding warrants near the Foundry Restaurant in Manchester. She was last seen floating in the middle of the river below the Granite Street Bridge before disappearing. Bedford police assisted in the search with other law enforcement agencies. (For Patch by Jeffrey Hastings)
  2. Members of the Bedford Fire Department traveled to Vermont with the Souhegan Swift Water Rescue Team earlier this week "to rescue citizens and their pets from stranded vehicles and their homes." Vermont requested emergency assistance after drenching rains brought vast flooding. Thank you, BFD! (Bedford Fire Department, NH via Facebook)
  3. The Bedford Public Library is offering a new Museum Pass to the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire. The Aviation Museum is in a historic airport building on the southeast side of the Manchester Airport. Find out more here: (Bedford (NH) Public Library via Facebook)
