Alex Dubois for School Board

The single most important pressing issue facing the community is _______ and this is what I intend to do about it

The single most important issue facing the community is underfunding and underappreciation of public education. I intend to advocate for the needs of all learners, regardless of socioeconomic status, disability or diagnosis, or other unique profiles. I also hope to keep our schools "teacher-friendly" which means allowing our educators to receive the compensation and resources necessary to perform their job. I believe that our schools have a duty to educate all the children of today to be leaders of tomorrow.

List three other things you would like to work on if elected or re-elected

Getting accessible, quality mental health services to all students; training and developing educators to use research-based curriculum; selecting a superintendent who best fulfills the mission of the Concord School District

Name a couple of accomplishments in the past that show you can handle this position

Voted School Staff of the Month in November 2024. Various Volunteer work throughout the city, including with Future in Sight, ABLE NH, and InTown Concord

Share any other thoughts or ideas you would like voters to know about yourself

As a special education teacher, I am used to working and collaborating with others as a team to determine the best possible outcomes for children. My time spent teaching in private out-of-district placements is useful in speaking up for the students and families that are often forgotten about. Through this, I have witnessed some of the mental health effects on students whose needs were not able to be met within their public school districts. I believe that schools should be a safe place for all students to express themselves, discover themselves, and establish trusting relationships with others. I also understand and can relate to both the conveniences and inconveniences that our teachers face on a daily basis.

As a school board representative, I would be one of nine members of a team listening to the various concerns of our community members. My experience in special education has allowed me to view issues through different lenses. If elected, I pledge to hear all of your voices to help inform any decisions involving the Concord School District. I will work tirelessly to address the concerns of my constituents, while also addressing the concerns of the teachers, faculty, and the students of Concord.
