Canterbury Shaker Village to Host Heifer Parade and Festivities

From Canterbury Shaker Village: Canterbury Shaker Village will host its free Opening Day Festivities and Heifer Parade on Saturday, May 6, 2017. Celebrate the return of the spring to the Village pastures with a parade of heifers to the fresh grass. Maypole dancing, food, outdoor barn dancing, butter making, make-your-own head wreaths and May cards will run from 10am-2pm with the parade beginning at approximately at 11am. Self-guided exhibits will be open and guided tours are available for $10 per person at 11am, 1pm & 3pm. The Village is also participating in NH Open Doors’ spring event, a New Hampshire touring and shopping event on May 6 & 7.

Canterbury Shaker Village will host the 10th Annual Canterbury Shaker Village XC5k race on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10am. Pre-register here. Day-of registration opens at 8:30am at the Village. Registration is $25. Children 10 and under are free. Participants can run or walk the course, crossing through fields, woods, pastures, and around ponds. Music is provided along the course for inspiration. Prizes and complimentary refreshments available at the completion of the race. Race #4 in the Capital Area Race Series (CARS).

Other upcoming events include a Plant Sale on May 20; and the Simply Shaker Summer Celebration Dinner and Auction, on Wednesday, June 21. The Village will be open daily from 10am-5pm through October 27, and on weekends October 28 through December 3 (guided tours only).
