Concord Citizen Of The Year: David Ruedig

Concord's 2018 Citizen of the Year award was presented to businessman, school leader and philanthropist David Ruedig.

CONCORD, NH -- David Ruedig, a businessman, school leader and philanthropist, was named Concord's Citizen of the Year this week. The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce presented Ruedig with the award at its annual gala. Ruedig runs the financial firm The Ruedig Group and is a former president of Concord's school board and former chair of the New Hampshire Board of Education.

"David Ruedig is an outstanding choice," chamber President Tim Sink said in a statement. "(The award) is presented to someone who has given much of themselves to the community in many ways over their career."

Ruedig is involved with the Red Cross, Concord Hospital, Concord library and United Way of Merrimack County. He was nominated for the award by U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen.

"I nominated David to serve on the Board of Education, which he did with distinction," Shaheen said in a statement. "David’s contributions do not end with his commitment to ensuring all children have access to a good public education."

She added, "Your closest co-workers, colleagues, and associates often recount your innumerable acts of service with a single sentence: 'Don’t forget the kids.' Your frequent contributions toward bettering the education of our children, whether serving as president of the Concord School Board of Chairman of the New Hampshire Board of Education, reverberate throughout the Granite State.”
