The commander called for “priority traffic” and confirmed there was a victim on the second floor. Firefighters and EMTs removed the victim from the building. A commander also stated firefighters had water on the fire.

Mutual aid was requested from Franklin, Pembroke, and Tilton, and the Penacook Rescue Team around 6:45 p.m.

Concord police were also requested to close off traffic on Manchester Street, rerouting vehicles around Old Suncook Road.

Here is a second video from News 603.

At just before 7 p.m., firefighters ended “priority traffic,” saying they had cleared the first and second floors of residents. Unitil and the state fire marshal’s office were also requested.

Concord Fire Chief John Chisolm, who was at the scene, did not know how many people living in the apartments were displaced by the fire. He confirmed one person had died during the incident. State Fire Marshal Sean Toomey, a former Concord firefighter, was also at the scene Tuesday night.

The fire was brought under control around 8 p.m. and teams cleared just before 8:30 p.m.

The Concord Fire Department and the New Hampshire Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the death.

Toomey, in a press release Tuesday night, said the victim was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to verify their identity and confirm their cause and manner of death.

“No other residents or firefighters were injured,” he said. “Members of the American Red Cross have responded to the scene and are assisting multiple residents who have been displaced as a result of the fire.”

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation was asked to contact the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office at 603-223-4289 or fmo@dos.nh.gov.
