Concord Firefighters Extinguish Bedroom Blaze In Penacook: Video

CONCORD, NH — Concord firefighters spent about 90 minutes extinguishing a two-alarm house fire in Penacook late Tuesday morning.

Around 11:30 a.m., firefighters were sent to 49 Charles St. for a report of a fire in a bedroom. When they arrived, they found smoke coming from the second story. People were outside of the home and a second alarm was immediately requested.

The second alarm brought firefighters from Allenstown, Boscawen, Bow, Chichester, Franklin, Hopkinton, and Loudon into the city to assist and for mutual aid. Firefighters were requested to stage on Washington Street.

The fire commander said the occupants said everyone was out but they were going to make a sweep of the home. Other firefighters connected two fire hoses and began tackling the fire.

Concord police also arrived to handle traffic.

Unitil was requested to the scene just past 11:45 a.m.

At around noon, a fire commander informed dispatch that the fire had reignited at the home. About 15 minutes later, the Red Cross was requested to the scene to assist.

Around 12:15 p.m., more firefighters were requested for coverage, bringing in the Penacook Rescue team and Tilton-Northfield firefighters.

Police cleared the scene and firefighters began releasing teams around 1 p.m.
