Fight, Flashed Handgun Reported At Concord Heights Pop-Up Car Meet-Up

Video: Witnesses claim several people were fighting at a meet-up in the Harbor Freight parking lot on Friday night.

CONCORD, NH — Concord police are looking into a possible flashed gun incident and multi-person fight during a pop-up car meet-up on the Concord Heights on Friday night.

At just past 8 p.m., police dispatch received several calls about cars backfiring in the area of Dairy Queen on Loudon Road. Around 15 minutes later, the responding officer said the vehicles appeared to be gone upon arrival. The officer then asked if they had heard any complaints about issues near Walmart. Dispatch said, No, they had not.

“Well,” the officer said, “if we do, there is a car show, with a bunch of cars, in the Harbor Freight parking lot.”

The officer stayed in the area, saying they would be on a directive concerning motor vehicle violations.

Just before 8:45 p.m., a caller reported to dispatch “a giant fight just occurred” at Harbor Freight. Officers went to the area with dispatch saying the witness reported that while the car meet was going on, everyone just started fighting.

The first-arriving officer stated no one was actively fighting when they arrived.

“Surprising,” they said, “everyone is saying no one was fighting right now, and there are no obvious signs of a fight. I’m getting everyone out of the parking lot.”

After cars started departing, the officer said, some felt comfortable speaking and claimed a couple of kids pushed another kid, which is what started the fight, and then several people swung at each other. Another man then flashed a 9 mm handgun and then left in a white Honda Civic.

One man was described as wearing a red mask.

Around 9 p.m., police stopped the driver of the Civic at the Shell gas station just east of Harbor Freight. Several officers went to the scene. Two people were in the car, a man and a teenager, according to scanner chatter. The man was reportedly the one wearing the ski mask, one of the officers said.

An officer ran a serial number of a Glock and dispatch said it did not come back as stolen, according to scanner chatter.

Officers also searched the area around Popeyes Chicken for evidence.

Another officer took a report of one man who was on a bicycle and as many as eight people jumped him as he was riding by the area, according to a 911 call. An officer searched the area but did not find an injured bicyclist.

Another officer requested a BOLO (be-on-the-lookout) request for Belknap and Merrimack counties for a suspect with “a lot of history,” including stolen cars.
