Fish and Game Divers Recover Body Of Missing Kayaker In Whitefield

WHITEFIELD, NH - New Hampshire Fish and Game Divers recovered the body of a missing kayaker Wednesday morning after a two-day search.

Divers and searchers arrived at the boat launch on Parker Road and continued their search for Caleb Sweatt, 33 of Lancaster who was kayaking Monday evening.

NH Fish and Game LtRobert Mancini said the body was located and recovered at 8:15 a.m.

The incident began Monday evening at approximately 9:30 p.m. when a 911 caller reported a possible drowning at Burns Pond in Whitefield.

A coordinated search was completed with personnel from several agencies including Whitefield Fire and Rescue, Whitefield Police Department, Dalton Fire Department, New Hampshire State Police, New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol, and the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.

Resources included Divers, Canine Units, Sonar Equipment, a Drone, and several boats.

A statement from Lt Mancini said, “On behalf of all the first responders that participated in the search I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Caleb Sweatt.”
