A video of the crash scene was posted on Facebook by News 603.

The street was closed and the victim was prepped for transport to Concord Hospital.

The woman, a member of the city’s homeless community, was well-known to police due to her many arrests. One officer assigned another officer to stay with EMTs, since the officer was worried she might jump out of the ambulance, according to scanner chatter. According to court paperwork, she sustained a broken pelvis during the crash. Her condition is currently unknown.

After a field sobriety test, Chaput was arrested and released on personal recognizance.

A probable cause hearing was held in Concord District Court on Monday, and another hearing is scheduled for Sept. 22.

Chaput has a limited criminal history, according to court records.

Back in October 2020, he was arrested on a cocaine possession charge in Manchester. The charge was nolle prossed in July 2021 due to “prosecutorial discretion,” according to a filing. In January 2013, he was accused of having an uninspected vehicle in Goffstown, but the charge was nolle prossed four months later. Chaput was also accused of having an unregistered motor vehicle in Goffstown in January 2015. About five months later, the charge was nolle prossed. Between 1992 and 2007, Chaput was involved in five motor vehicle violations, according to court documents.
