Here Comes The Snow: 5 To 11 Inches Coming To New Hampshire, National Weather Service Says
Update: A "hazardous weather outlook" alert was issued for the Granite State concerning the first significant snowfall of the season.
CONCORD, NH — The first significant snowfall of the year is coming to the Granite State on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Forecasters issued alerts at 12:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday, warning of snow for Tuesday. The latter alert said the storm watch would be in effect from 7 a.m. on Tuesday to 1 a.m. on Wednesday.
The storm is expected to begin around 10 a.m. in Concord and the capital region, with 4 to 10 inches of snow possible. The storm will start around 10 a.m. in Nashua and southwestern New Hampshire, with 4 to 10 inches expected. Manchester and Inland Rockingham County will see anywhere from 5 to 11 inches starting around 7 a.m. An inch is expected on the Seacoast around 4 p.m., and then the snow turns to rain, forecasters said.

“The first widespread accumulating snowfall for areas south of the mountains is becoming more likely for Tuesday into Wednesday,” an alert stated.

The snow is expected to be heavy, with one alert noting accumulations of more than 6 inches were possible.
“Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous,” the alert said. “Visibilities may drop below a quarter of a mile due to falling and blowing snow. Periods of moderate and heavy snow will combine with low visibility to create dangerous driving conditions.”
“The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes, the alert stated.
AccuWeather.com also expected anywhere from 1 to 6 inches of snow, with a StormMax prediction of up to 12 inches.
Forecasters advise delaying all travel. But if you must drive, proceed with caution. Forecasters also said if traveling any distance, a winter storm kit should be packed with items such as tire chains, booster cables, a flashlight, a shovel, blankets, and extra clothing. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you survive in case you become stranded, forecasters said.
