Man Armed With Knife Shot And Killed By Gilford Police Inside House
Officers responded to Varney Point Road on Sunday for a man threatening himself and others with a knife; state police, NH AG investigating.
CONCORD, NH — A man was fatally shot by police inside a residence at 5 Varney Point Road on Sunday after they responded to a report of a man threatening himself and others with a knife.
The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office said, at 9:52 p.m., Gilford police officers responded to a report of a resident armed with a knife on Varney Point Road. The responding officers encountered the armed resident inside the home. During the encounter, one officer discharged an electronic taser and a second officer discharged his weapon. The initial responding officers were wearing body cameras that will be examined as part of the investigation.
On Monday, an officer was stationed at the intersection on Varney Point Road and only allowed residents from the road to pass by to their residences.

New Hampshire State Police Major Crime investigators were at the scene and could be seen photographing the outside of the house and entering the house with items used to collect evidence. The Major Crime Unit and the Attorney General’s Office investigate all officer-involved shootings in the state.
Pursuant to protocol, the names of the officers involved in the incident are being withheld pending the conclusion of formal interviews.

The identity of that individual is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
On Tuesday, an autopsy will be performed by the Office of the New Hampshire Chief Medical Examiner in Concord. No law enforcement officers have been physically injured, and there is no threat to the public.
