Man Escapes Concord Prison Unit: Officials

New Hampshire corrections officials said John Mesquita, serving time for armed robbery, escaped a minimum-security transitional unit.

CONCORD, NH — A convict escaped a state prison unit Wednesday, according to corrections officials. John Mesquita, 41, walked away from a minimum-security transitional work center in Concord at about 10 a.m., officials said. He was serving time for armed robbery, among other offenses.

Mesquita is 6 feet and 200 pounds with several tattoos, including ones on his neck and left arm. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police immediately.

Mesquita was convicted of robbing a Manchester convenience store and assaulting a clerk in 2011. He was scheduled to be eligible for parole in June 2020.

He's currently wanted for escaping a transitional unit, a felony that's punishable by up to seven years in prison.
