Man Killed In Lake Winnipesaukee Boating Mishap
NH State Police said William Rowan, of North Carolina, was killed in a boating mishap on Lake Winnipesaukee in Alton.

ALTON, NH — A man was killed in a boating mishap on Lake Winnipesaukee Friday, police said. The victim was identified as William Rowan, 35, of Wilmington, North Carolina. He was aboard a boat with eight other people when the operator made an "abrupt maneuver," causing Rowan to fall out the boat, according to New Hampshire State Police.
Rowan was brought ashore, where he was pronounced dead. The incident happened at about 10 a.m. in Alton.
"At this time it appears that operator error may have been a contributing factor in this crash, however
all aspects remain under investigation," state police said in a statement.
