Man, Reportedly Having A ‘Manic Episode,’ Struck By Vehicle On Pleasant Street In Concord
Status 2 alert requested at Concord Hospital after a man, running in the middle of the street, was struck by a vehicle Saturday night.

CONCORD, NH — Concord police are investigating a crash on Pleasant Street on Saturday night after a pedestrian was struck in the area of 300 Pleasant St.
According to police dispatch, two 911 calls reported the crash at 7 p.m. Both callers said a man was running around in the roadway and was then struck by a car. One of the callers stated the man appeared to be experiencing a “manic episode” before the crash.
Both the driver who struck the man and a woman in another car, who was a witness, stayed at the scene until police arrived.

The first arriving officer said the man was “conscious and breathing, but he says that he can’t move his body,” according to radio traffic.
Concord fire and rescue teams arrived, requested a Trauma 2 status alert at Concord Hospital, and took the man to the emergency room around 7:15 p.m.

Traffic was being rerouted from Hopkinton Road onto Fisk Road on the west side of the crash and at the Birches back onto Pleasant Street on the east side. St. Paul’s School was also called and requested to shut down Dunbarton Road. Pleasant Street is expected to remain closed for an extended period.
