CANTERBURY, NH — A man from Massachusetts was arrested early Sunday morning and held on preventive detention after being accused of wrong-way intoxicated driving on Interstate 93.

Around 12:15 a.m., New Hampshire State Police dispatch began receiving calls about a wrong-way driver on the highway in Northfield. Troopers began searching for the vehicle and came upon a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek on the left shoulder of the Interstate, facing the wrong way, near Mile Marker 50.6 in Canterbury.

“It was determined later that the driver of the vehicle had pulled over due to running out of gas,” state police said.

He was held on preventive detention and was scheduled to be arraigned in Concord District Court on Monday.
