New York City Murderer, Accused Of Kidnapping, Arrested In NH With North Andover, Mass., Teen: Marshals

CONCORD, NH — A convicted murderer from New York City was arrested in Manchester on Thursday on kidnapping and other charges, accused of luring and being caught with a missing teenager from Massachusetts.

Christopher Rodriguez, 40, of Maplewood Avenue in Clifton, New Jersey, was arrested on Thursday on kidnapping-under-18, endangering the welfare of a child, obstruction of government administration, hindering apprehension-prosecution charges, and a misuse of plates violation. He was arrested on Route 28 near Wellington Road in Manchester, according to Andrew Grillo, a deputy U.S. Marshal.

During the arrest, he said, a missing 15-year-old from North Andover, MA, who was “lured away by Rodriguez, was safely recovered.”

Grillo said Marshals began working on the case with Londonderry police on Aug. 16, after issuing arrest warrants against Rodriguez — a convicted murderer involving in an armed robbery in New York City in 1999. He was sentenced in 2000 and released from prison in 2017, Grillo said. The warrants were the result of “further investigation into deceptive statements made by him” during a police encounter on Aug. 9,” he said.

“Authorities believe his involvement with the juvenile may date back to 2023,” Grillo said. “The juvenile has been safely returned to the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services by the North Andover Police Department.”

Task force members involved in the case and offering support included officers from Manchester, Merrimack, Nashua, Strafford, and the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department.
