NH DWI Patrol Nets 2 Labor Day Weekend

NH State Police said two drivers were charged with DWI during a patrol in the Lake Winnipesaukee Labor Day weekend.

GILFORD, NH — Two New Hampshire drivers were charged with driving while intoxicated in the Lake Winnipesaukee area during a coordinated police patrol Labor Day weekend. The patrol was conducted Saturday night through Sunday morning and involved New Hampshire State Police, Gilford police, Laconia police and Belmont police.

The individuals arrested were Russ Cody, 26, of Hampton, and Andrew Walter, 18, of Manchester. Cody was charged with aggravated DWI, disobeying a police officer and resisting arrest. Walter was charged with DWI and being a minor in possession of alcohol.

Police stopped 111 drivers total and also charged several with infractions including marijuana possession, speeding, failure to maintain a lane, driving after suspension and driving an unregistered vehicle.

"The detection and apprehension of impaired drivers and enforcement of the Driving While Intoxicated statutes ... (is) a top priority," State Police Colonial Christopher Wagner said in a statement. "Officers will continue to collaborate and utilize DWI Saturation Patrols and other means to deter, detect and remove impaired drivers from New Hampshire roadways."

Also this Labor Day weekend, police arrested two more individuals during a DWI checkpoint in Seabrook and a Raymond woman was charged with driving 108 mph on Route 101.
