CONCORD, NH — The New Hampshire Department of Corrections is asking for the public’s help in finding a felon who was captured in Massachusetts and released, but never returned to the Granite State.

Henry Edward Stanley is 31, white, about 6 feet, 4 inches tall, and weighs around 175 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Stanley has no known scars or tattoos. The New Hampshire Parole Board issued the warrant for his arrest after Stanley was accused of absconding from supervision in April 2018.

“Stanley is currently on supervision as part of his conviction and sentence for theft by unauthorized taking and forgery,” an alert stated. “Stanley has an extensive criminal history, including assault, forgery, theft, controlled drugs: acts prohibited, driving after suspension, and bail jumping.”

Corrections said he was arrested in Massachusetts on charges in June 2024. However, courts in the Bay State allowed him to be released on bail, provided he would turn himself in to New Hampshire authorities.

“Stanley,” the alert stated, “failed to return to NH as directed and remains a fugitive.”

Stanley has a “violent tendencies” warning on his fugitive status.

According to Superior Court records, Stanley pleaded guilty to a single count of forgery in October 2015, following an incident in Concord.

According to a post on Patch, Stanley was living on Farnham Street in Lowell, MA, at the time of the forgery and arrest for receiving stolen property. The charges were connected to an incident at the Bank of America on Storrs Street that had occurred two days prior. He was picked up at the Valley Street Jail in Manchester after police arrested him on the Concord warrant. Stanley was later released to the Belknap County Sheriff’s Office for a warrant from that department.

Stanley received a two-to-four-year prison sentence and given 120 days of time-served credit. He was also ordered to pay $23,743.28 in restitution.

Also in February 2014, he was accused of attempted felony theft in Tilton and felony theft in Belmont. Stanley pleaded guilty to both charges in July 2015. He received two-to-four-year and three-and-a-half-to-seven-year sentences to be served consecutively. The second sentence was suspended, conditioned on good behavior for 10 years. Stanley was also given three years probation, given 43 days of time served credit, and required to pay restitution of $21,315. Probation was scheduled to start in July 2017.

Stanley was also picked up on felony bail jumping in April 2015. He pleaded guilty a few months later and received a three-and-a-half-to-seven-year sentence suspended upon good behavior for 10 years.

Anyone who knows where Stanley is should not try to apprehend him. Contact the police or corrections at 603-271-1804.
