CONCORD, NH — Paul Hodes and the Blue Buddha Band celebrate the release of their second album in a CD release concert at the Bank of New Hampshire Stage in Concord on Friday.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Led by guitar-slinging former U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes, The Blue Buddha Band features Bassist Jon Gabay, Dean Rubine on Keyboards, first-call drummer Ed Raczka, and guest vocalist Peggo Horstmann Hodes. The Blue Buddha Band’s original Americana rock sound fuses roots, rock, folk, and blues with superb songwriting into a powerful blend. Hodes said the band’s original tunes cover a lot of ground, hitting all the essentials: Love, sex, life, death, war, peace, and hot cars.

The band released its debut 11-song album, “Turn This Ship Around,” featuring a true story embodied in the upbeat and poignant single “The Night I Met John Lennon.” The band’s second album, “The Heartland,” features nine new originals, will be available on CD at the release concert on Dec. 5, and is slated for worldwide release on all platforms by major indie label, Valley Entertainment, in early 2026.

Early reviews have been positive, the band said. Red Rock Magazine wrote: “Instant classic and beautiful storytelling…Soulful and dynamic vocal performance. Great songwriting!” While Honk Magazine said: “Paul Hodes and The Blue Buddha Band take you on an unforgettable journey…masterpiece…mesmerizing…compelling…soulful…powerful…dynamic…embrace the magic of storytelling …Great retro rock sound with unique vocals...”
