Police Investigating Hit-And-Run Crash, Assault Incident On The Concord Heights

A driver in a RAV4 accused the driver of a Juke with Arkansas plates of punching him in the face and fleeing toward Pembroke Saturday.

CONCORD, NH — Concord police are investigating a crash on the Heights Saturday afternoon, reportedly involving two vehicles and one person being assaulted by another, with the suspect fleeing the scene.

Just past 4 p.m., officers and fire and rescue teams were sent to the intersection of Old Turnpike Road and Airport Road for a report of a crash, and an assault that followed. Dispatch said the call came from a third party who was a family member of the victim. The victim claimed they were punched in the face, dispatch said.

One vehicle left the scene — a beige Nissan Juke with Arkansas plates and headed toward Route 106 via Regional Drive.

The first officer to arrive at the intersection did not see any damaged vehicles or a crash scene. A couple of minutes later, the officer said they were being flagged down by a driver in the parking lot of a local pet store.

After interviewing the victim, the officer said one driver reportedly cut off the other and crossed the double-yellow line. So, the officer presumed the damage was possibly to the right rear side of the Juke. The damage, he said, would be minor, according to scanner chatter.

The second vehicle was a Toyota RAV4 owned by a Penacook resident. EMTs were requested to check out the victim.

Pembroke police reported to dispatch that they knew the vehicle in question, and it was owned by a woman in their town, but she often let her son use the vehicle. The dispatcher said they could not pronounce the name but said Pembroke would send officers to the home to check in with the owner.

The victim confirmed the driver of the Nissan was a man. An officer also stated that video evidence was available.

Around 4:30 p.m., officers searching the immediate area reported they could not find the Juke.

About 15 minutes later, Pembroke police reported the vehicle was not at the home in their town.

The victim refused transport by firefighters.

At 5 p.m., police cleared the scene.
