Lemieux: Seven Years In The Making, Land Purchase In Jeopardy

Massachusetts family-owned company wants Concord to go back to the negotiating table

What's at stake? The City of Concord has been negotiating to purchase a 5-3/4 mile long abandoned railroad right of way for 7 years.  Tonight, the Concord City Council will vote on whether or not to approve the purchase.

If you’re a fan of the Northern Rail Trail, the Concord-Lake Sunapee Rail Trail, or the Merrimack River Greenway Trail and want to see them all connected, from Boscawen to Downtown Concord, you should know that Scenic Railriders is working hard to throw a monkey wrench into the works. If they succeed, they could set us back years or kill the effort altogether.
