St. Paul’s School In Concord To Test Emergency Alert Siren Tuesday Morning

The director of school safety and compliance said the siren test would take place at 8:55 a.m. at the school's Pleasant Street campus.

CONCORD, NH — If you hear what sounds like an old Civil Defense air raid siren on Tuesday morning, here’s why.

St. Paul’s School will conduct a test of its student emergency alert siren at 8:55 a.m. on Oct. 7 from the school campus, located on Pleasant Street and Dunbarton Road.

Donald Sullivan, the director of school safety and compliance, said the activation of the siren was only a test and there was no emergency. In the past, siren activation has been in the form of tones and verbal messages. The school usually tests the system a few times a year — in the fall, after school has started, in the spring, and again in the summer, for summer students.

The siren can be heard in a large portion of the city, Sullivan said, hence the outreach to the public and press the day before the test.
