Exeter Hospital’s Marvin Honored With 2024 Excellence In Nursing Award
Lucille Marvin, the director of HealthReach Diabetes, Endocrine & Nutrition Center, recognized for dedication to Ambulatory Care Nursing.

EXETER, NH — Lucille “Cille” Marvin, BSN, RN, CDCES, NEA-BC, program manager and director of the HealthReach Diabetes, Endocrine & Nutrition Center of Exeter Hospital, was honored recently for her outstanding contributions to the nursing profession as a recipient of a 2024 Excellence in Nursing Award from New Hampshire Magazine in partnership with the New Hampshire Nurses Association.
Marvin received the Ambulatory Care Nursing Award for her dedication to the health and well-being of her patients and colleagues and her commitment to the highest standards of nursing at all levels.
The Excellence in Nursing Awards honor nurses in the state’s healthcare community who go above and beyond to comfort, heal, and educate while demonstrating the critical role of nursing in achieving comprehensive healthcare. Marvin was one of 13 nurses statewide recognized this year at the seventh annual Excellence in Nursing Awards ceremony presented by New Hampshire Magazine and the New Hampshire Nurses Association on May 22 at Grappone Conference Center in Concord.

“Person-centric care is central to what we do,” Marvin said. “We have an amazing team at HealthReach Diabetes, and we are always seeking the gold standard as a center of excellence in diabetes care with an emphasis on compassion and engagement. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to nurture our talented team, bring about change and find partners to allow us to provide extraordinary care to our patients.”
Marvin began her career as a staff nurse in the Intensive Coronary Care Unit at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, Mass. In 1996, she joined Exeter Hospital as a nurse in the cardiovascular rehabilitation program and wellness services department, where she became interested in managing chronic conditions such as diabetes and developed the hospital’s Diabetes Fitness Program. In 2007, she was named program manager and director of HealthReach Diabetes, Endocrine & Nutrition Center, charged with managing both inpatient and outpatient diabetes care for Exeter Hospital.

A certified diabetes care and education specialist, Marvin oversees the Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support team in helping individuals better manage their health and live well. The team’s specialists provide individual consultations, group education classes, insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring programs, a diabetes fitness program, and community education sessions.
Marvin is a member of the American Diabetes Association and the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists, of which she serves as an executive member and past president of its New Hampshire Coordinating Body. She is also an executive member and past officer of the New Hampshire Society for Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.
“Cille is an exceptional nurse leader who embodies the spirit of our HealthReach Diabetes program,” Debra Cresta, the president of Exeter Hospital, said. “Her dedication to her patients and colleagues at Exeter Hospital is unparalleled, and she inspires her team to consistently deliver safe, high-quality care while managing their overall well-being. We are grateful for her contributions to the Exeter Hospital community and applaud her for her well-deserved recognition as a 2024 Excellence in Nursing honoree.”
Valerie Greene, DNP, RN, NE-BC, CEN, director of cardiovascular services, HealthReach, and community education at Exeter Hospital, who nominated Marvin for the award, called her a visionary who is always proactively seeking new ways to improve patient care and build engagement with her team.
“It’s always patient focused with Cille,” Greene said. “She’s built a team that between all of them meet most every patient’s needs in the diabetes community. She is always looking at what’s next.”
