Greetings my fellow Exeter residents and visitors, you all know it's Christmastime!!! Yes & it's also the time for the Jewish Festival of Lights, Hanukkah (or "Chanukah" if you like), which begins this Sunday evening, Dec. 14, 2025, at sundown, here in Exeter and everywhere around the world. In my family, we celebrate both, so it's really a joyous time of the year.

In keeping with this Holiday Season, I will moderate the politics, but still gonna write about it, because that is what I do.

I've been checking around, paying attention to what people think at this moment, about the 2028 US Presidential Election, which will be here before you know it.

A politically astute political friend of mine here in Exeter has pointed out that New Hampshire has an important function in the US Presidential Selection Process, which is the function of weeding out those who really can't stand the heat. No, we are not King Makers (& nobody in the United States of America needs that, we don't want a King, and also by the way that's why we had the American Revolution, capiche?).

No, you presidential contenders don't absolutely positively need to win here, but you must compete here & you must not fall flat on your face if you even want to have a hope of becoming our next U.S. President. And if you don't come here, someone else will. U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton of Massachusetts, for example. He lives right down the road somewhere. . . .

So in line with what I've said here so far, this is the current Mirsky's List of the Strongest Candidates for President in 2028:

Dems

1. and 2. California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and 2024 Democratic Presidential Nominee Kamala Harris. These are formidable people. Strong people. Most people I've talked with say they'd support Gavin Newsom, because he's just strong; & not afraid of Mr. T. either! To those voices, I would add that Kamala Harris (who actually won the State of New Hampshire in 2024) is also just as strong, if not stronger (!). So to you Newsom & Harris organizers out there, I say, just come on over to our beautiful state of New Hampshire, do a little skiing, visit the great vast pristine beaches, and then come to Exeter, New Hampshire and set up a Q & A session at the Exeter Town Hall, as soon as possible!

Others mentioned as potential candidates include Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, a very popular guy in his State, where I hear the Bourbon, horse racing & college basketball playing are primo. And U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York. Also, and not to be overlooked by any means, is Mayor Pete (Pete Buttigieg, Joe Biden's U.S. Secretary of Transportation & former Mayor of South Bend, Indiana), who has run for President before and still has very strong support here. By the way, there is also U.S. Senator from New Jersey Cory Booker, who has become a great leader in the area of making sure that all Americans have access to effective and affordable health care. A good person, too.

Since I'm keeping this brief, I think I'll wait until next time to discuss the Republicans. Suffice it to say, they have a strong contender in U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who appears to be more Presidential than his boss.

So that's it for now. Stay tuned.

And Happy Holidays to everyone!!!
