The future of Exeter is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders like Eleanor Kirkland, who are making a positive impact in and around Exeter.

Eleanor, a former Exeter High School student, earned recognition as one of 161 candidates for the 2024 United States Presidential Scholars Program—one of the highest honors awarded to high school students in the country. She has also received the Rural and Small Town Recognition Award and the Yale Book Award for her academic achievements.

During her time at Exeter, Eleanor was deeply involved in both academics and extracurricular activities. She held an officer position in the Music Honor Society and was a member of the Math Honor Society, English Honor Society, Latin Honor Society and National Honor Society.

Now a student at the University of Connecticut, Eleanor continues to make an impact. She is a member of the Statistics Club and Data Science Club and dedicates her time to volunteering at No Freeze Shelter in Willimantic, where she helps ensure the safe and proper check-in of shelter occupants.
