Firearm Stolen in Burglary; Police Urging Locals to Lock Doors
Police are looking for leads in a mid-morning break-in and are asking residents take caution.
The North Hampton Police Department is searching for a suspect or suspects responsible for breaking into a Mill Road home and stealing a firearm last month.
Det. Steven Janvrin said the home, located "about a quarter mile from Rye town line," was burglarized at about 9:45 a.m. on Feb. 12. Janvrin said the suspect or suspects forced their way into the home, which activated an alarm. The suspects fled before police arrived, though, and Janvrin said his department is looking for leads.
Janvrin said "residents should use caution if discovering a burglary" because the stolen Mill Road "firearm has not been recovered." Janvrin also recommended that residents lock their homes and call police if they notice any suspicious activity.

Janvrin also said it "can be helpful even if a resident records the registration plate of a vehicle and note down the descriptions of any occupants that they feel may be suspicious but are reluctant to call in."
Police asked anyone with more information about the Mill Road burglary — which Janvrin said he doesn't believe is related to any other burglaries in the area — or other crimes to contact investigating officer Det. Steven Janvrin at 964-2198, ext. 3001, or sjanvrin@northhampton-nh.gov.
