The storm isn't the only thing slated for today, although it could be if the area gets a lot of snow.

3. What Else Is Happening Today? All Hampton and North Hampton public (SAU 21 and 90) and private schools (Sacred Heart School) have canceled classes for Friday.

Also, it's Small Business Day, and Lane Memorial Library plans to be open.

[Editor's note: All events are subject to cancelation today due to the snowstorm. Be sure to check out or add to our closure/cancelation list here.]

4. This Day in History: A classic "Nor'easter" storm that brought a severe blizzard to New England finally subsides on this day in 1978, and the region begins to dig out from under several feet of snow.

Over the previous 72 hours, some areas of Rhode Island and Massachusetts had received as many as 55 inches of snow.

5. Do You Like Taking Photos? Well, you're in luck because we want to showcase them for you as part of our Photo of the Day.

Send any pictures you have of something or someone in or around the area to Editor Kyle Stucker at Kyle.Stucker@Patch.com for use in this daily, weekday feature!
