Five Things: Beach Parking Stickers and Mosquito Control

Two important notices, a rescheduled meeting and more are among the Five Things You Need to Know Today.

Good morning, Hampton and North Hampton. Here are five things you need to know for Tuesday, March 26:

3. What Else Is Happening Today? The Hampton School District (SAU 90) has no school today, and the Winnacunnet High School boys' basketball team's end-of-the-season will be held at 6 p.m. at Best Western Inn of Hampton.

Also, the North Hampton Zoning Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Town Hall.

4. This Day in History: On this day in 1997, following an anonymous tip, police entered a mansion in Rancho Santa Fe, an exclusive suburb of San Diego, Calif., and discover 39 victims of a mass suicide.

The deceased—21 women and 18 men of varying ages—were all found lying peaceably in matching dark clothes and Nike sneakers and had no noticeable signs of blood or trauma.

It was later revealed that the men and women were members of the "Heaven's Gate" religious cult, whose leaders preached that suicide would allow them to leave their bodily "containers" and enter an alien spacecraft hidden behind the Hale-Bopp comet.

5. Today's Forecast:

Day
Mostly sunny, with a high near 46. North wind 9 to 11 mph.

Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 30. West wind 7 to 9 mph.
