Five Things: Candidates Talk Issues One Week Before Town Meeting

Good morning, Hampton and North Hampton. Here are five things you need to know for Tuesday, March 5:

 

1. Learn More About the Issues One Week Before Town Meeting: All of Hampton's town and school candidates will have three minutes to explain their platforms during the annual Hampton Parent-Teacher Association (and Hampton Academy student-moderated) Candidates Night at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.

2. Expect Delays on Interstate 95: Bridge work in Seabrook will lead to various evening closures along portions of I-95 until Thursday.

3. What Else Is Happening Today? Winnacunnet High School students are putting the finishing touches on "Little Shop of Horrors." This year's spring musical debuts Friday.

Also, a Hampton downtown village corridor advisory meeting is at 3 p.m. at Hampton Town Hall, the North Hampton Planning Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. at North Hampton Town Hall.

4. This Day in History: On this day in 1963, the Hula-Hoop, a hip-swiveling toy that became a huge fad across America when it was first marketed by Wham-O in 1958, was patented by the company's co-founder, Arthur "Spud" Melin.

An estimated 25 million Hula-Hoops were sold in its first four months of production alone.
