Five Things: Last Warrant Voting Session, Toll Plaza Partially Closed

Your final opportunity to alter the town meeting warrant is today, which won't include the start of a Hampton Beach official's trial.

Good morning, Hampton and North Hampton. Here are five things you need to know for Wednesday, Feb. 6:

 

1. Two Big Items of Note Tonight: The proposed Winnacunnet School District warrant, including the budget for Winnacunnet High School, will go to town meeting as-is unless changes are made by voters during the annual deliberative session, which at 7 tonight in the WHS auditorium. The Winnacunnet School Board will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. in the school's lecture hall before the deliberative session.

Also, the high-speed tolling lanes at the Hampton toll plaza will be closed tonight for repairs.

2. In Case You Missed It: The man accused of strangling and beating an elderly man during the armed robbery of the Poker Room was arraigned Tuesday, and new details about the graphic incident were released.

Also, a Hampton Beach official's trial was scheduled to begin today, although that is no longer the case. 

Also, new details have emerged about the Jumper Classic and the reasoning behind the competition's decision to leave Hampton Falls.

4. This Day in History: On this day in 1952, after a long illness, King George VI of Great Britain and Northern Ireland died in his sleep at the royal estate at Sandringham.

Princess Elizabeth, the oldest of the king's two daughters and next in line to succeed him, was in Kenya at the time of her father's death; she was crowned Queen Elizabeth II on June 2, 1953, at age 27.
