Five Things: Muscles to Generate Money for Local Schools
A local trainer will take part in a special one-man fundraiser today, which features a lot of notable activity.
Good morning, Hampton and North Hampton. Here are five things you need to know for Tuesday, Feb. 1:
1. Local Trainer to Raise Money for Hampton Schools Through Fitness: Jay Collins, owner of Hampton-based will attempt 1,000 consecutive burpee pull-ups (Collins demonstrates them in the video attached to this article) today to raise money for Hampton schools, according to the MaxEdge Facebook page.

All funds raised will be used to purchase functional conditioning equipment for the schools' physical education programs, and over $8,500 has been raised as of Thursday, according to MaxEdge's Facebook page. Collins will attempt the pull-ups over the course of four hours, starting at 10 a.m., at MaxEdge, located at 6 Merrill Industrial Drive.

4. This Day in History: On this day in 1969, New York Yankees center fielder Mickey Mantle announced his retirement from baseball.
Mantle was an idol to millions, known for his remarkable power and speed and his everyman personality. While "The Mick" patrolled center field and batted cleanup between 1951 and 1968, the Yankees won 12 American League pennants and seven World Series.
