Five Things: 'Tis the (Election) Season

Election and town meeting season, that is.

Good morning, Hampton and North Hampton. Here are five things you need to know for Monday, March 11:

 

1. Last Day Before Town Meeting: Click here to brush up on the issues, candidates and warrant articles you'll see at the polls on Tuesday.

2. Selectmen Meetings Today: Both the Hampton and North Hampton boards meet at 7 p.m. at their respective town halls.

The Hampton session includes processing the application for the Sea Spray Condominiums tax relief as well as an update on the town's highway block grant. The North Hampton meeting includes two large assembly ordinance applications and discussion about this summer's beach leased parking program.

Also, the Friends of Winnacunnet Foundation will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Winnacunnet High School principal's conference room.

 3. This Day in History: On this day in 1997, Paul McCartney, a former member of the most successful rock band in history, The Beatles, was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his "services to music."

The 54-year-old lad from Liverpool became Sir Paul in a centuries-old ceremony of pomp and solemnity at Buckingham Palace in central London. Fans waited outside in a scene reminiscent of Beatlemania of the 1960s. Crowds screamed as McCartney swept through the gates in his chauffeur-driven limousine and he answered with a thumbs-up.
