Flood Watch in Effect for Hampton Area
A rainfall of 2 to 3 inches is expected to push smaller rivers and streams to near capacity.

A Flood Watch is in effect for coastal and interior Rockingham County, according to the National Weather Service.
The potential exists for flooding and localized flash flooding overnight into Friday across much of the state. A storm front moving in Thursday night is expected to produce heavy rainfall overnight intoFriday. Rainfall of 2 to 3 inches is expected to push many smaller rivers and streams to near bankfull by Friday. In addition, thunderstorms will produce locally higher rainfall amounts with the potential for localized flash flooding late Thursday into Friday.
A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. Residents are urged to monitor forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take quick action should flooding develop.
