Fuller Gardens Opens On Mother's Day

Fuller Gardens will be opening for the season on Mother's Day and will also be preparing for the annual Plant Sale during May.

From Fuller Gardens: Fuller Gardens, one of the last working estate gardens in the region, will open for the season on Mother’s Day, May 14th.

The gardener staff is also preparing for the popular Annual Plant Sale that will take place rain or shine on May 12, 13, 14 at 10 Willow Avenue in North Hampton, NH. The Annual Plant Sale is one of the original plant sales in New England and features hundreds of field grown, hardy perennials, rose bushes and herbs. Says Garden Director Jamie Colen, “This year we are combining opening day with our plant sale so visitors can celebrate Mother’s Day with a trip to Fuller Gardens. Plants are the gift that keep on giving!”

Fuller Gardens boasts one of the largest rose bush collections in New England. It is located at the former estate of Alvan T. Fuller, who served as Massachusetts Governor and built a fortune as the first automobile dealer in the nation. Fuller’s legacy has delighted visitors since he first commissioned the Gardens as a tribute to his wife, Viola, back in the late 1920s. The gardens were designed in the Colonial Revival style by the Olmsted Brothers. The nonprofit organization now relies on visitors, members, businesses, and grants for support. Says Colen, “People appreciate the peaceful experience of Fuller Gardens. It’s convenient, yet off the beaten path. And there’s nothing like the scent of roses mixed with the sea air!”
