Gov. Hassan Awards Job Training Grants to 2 Hampton Firms

As part of her efforts to ensure that New Hampshire workers are developing the skills, knowledge and innovative thinking necessary for jobs in the 21st century economy, Governor Maggie Hassan announced today that three New Hampshire companies have been awarded job training grants to help them train 25 workers in skills.

The job training grants total $33,421.49, and the companies contributed matching funds to bring the total amount for training workers to $66,842.98.

"I am proud to announce this latest round of job training grants to help prepare workers for good jobs at New Hampshire’s growing businesses," Hassan said. "New Hampshire’s Job Training Fund is a valuable resource that has helped thousands of New Hampshire workers develop essential skills, and it is critical that we continue to build a workforce pipeline through job training and higher education in order to attract innovative businesses, help existing ones grow, and create jobs that can support a strong middle class."

Symmetry Medical Inc. of Hampton will receive a grant of $18,400 for Manchester Community College and the New Hampshire Manufacturing Extension Partnership to train 10 employees in Six Sigma and the Lean Manufacturing Certificate Program.

A grant of $5,445 will be awarded to Axenics of Nashua for three employees to receive training in CNC tube bending from Horn Machine Tools and Hand Soldering Operator Certification and IPC-A-620 Specialist Certification from EPTAC.

C3I Inc. of Hampton will receive a Job Training Fund grant of $9,576.49 for project manager, safety, technical and software training for 12 employees from a variety of trainers such as the Red Cross, UNH, Microsoft, Soft 02, ONLC Training, Skill Path, OrCAD, QUI Learning CADD Edge and Webucator.

The Job Training Fund has awarded $6,637,256.89 in grants since October 2007, with employers contributing $9,270,258.36 for a total of $15,907,515.25 in new training for 19,809 New Hampshireworkers.
