Hampton Couple Voted Twice In 2016 Presidential Election: AG

Hampton NH couple Grace and John Fleming were indicted on charges they voted in New Hampshire and Massachusetts in the 2016 election.

HAMPTON, NH — A Hampton couple were indicted on charges they voted twice during the 2016 presidential election, New Hampshire Attorney General Gordon MacDonald announced Wednesday. Grace and John Fleming were each charged with two felony counts of violating state election law. Grace Fleming is 70 years old and her husband is 71.

"Grace and John Fleming are alleged to have cast an absentee ballot in Hampton, New Hampshire for the November 8, 2016 General Election, and also cast a ballot in Belchertown, Massachusetts during the same (election)," MacDonald said in a statement.

If convicted, the couple could lose their voting rights in New Hampshire. They also face a maximum penalty of 14 years in prison and $16,000 in fines. They will be arraigned in Rockingham County Superior Court October 5. An indictment means a grand jury determined a trial is warranted based on evidence in the case.

MacDonald said an investigation into potential voting fraud during the 2016 in the Granite State is "active and ongoing."
