Man Indicted for Robbing Homes to Buy Heroin
Matthew Stone, 20, allegedly stole several valuable items and a handgun in order to use them to buy drugs.

A Hampton man accused of breaking into multiple Newmarket homes was indicted this month in Rockingham Superior Court on burglary and theft charges for his role in the December 2012 incidents.
Matthew Stone, 20, of 21 M St. in Hampton, was indicted on two Class B felony counts of burglary and two Class A felony counts of theft by unauthorized taking at an Ash Swamp Road home on Dec. 10, 2012, and a Schanda Drive Home on Dec. 13.
Court paperwork indicates that Stone, who allegedly had accomplices in each break-in, stole a Walther 9mm handgun from the Ash Swamp Road home and stole cash, electronics and jewelry valued at over $1,500 from the Schanda Drive home.

Stone allegedly confessed to the crimes after he was arrested on Jan. 15, according to court paperwork. Stone also allegedly told police that he pawned the Schanda Drive home items for cash to buy heroin in Lawrence, Mass., and that he also traded the gun for heroin during the trip to Lawrence.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt or conviction; rather, it means a grand jury believed there was sufficient evidence to warrant a trial.
