Selectmen Candidates Plead Their Case in 'Low-Key' Race [VIDEO]

Mary-Louise Woolsey and Rick Griffin differed on a variety of topics during a cordial candidates night Tuesday.

Just one week before the annual elections, incumbent Hampton Selectmen Rick Griffin and challenger Mary-Louise Woolsey outlined many of their goals and ideologies during Tuesday's Candidates Night in an attempt to sway voters in the biggest contested race on the ticket.

The race itself has been mild, though, as Griffin, the chairman of the Hampton Board of Selectmen, has previously told Hampton-North Hampton Patch that he and Woolsey, a former selectman whose term on the Hampton Budget Committee ends at the town meeting polls on March 12, have agreed to run a "low-key," campaign sign-free election.

That didn't stop either individual from making comments during Tuesday's Hampton Parent-Teacher Association Candidates Night, an annual pre-town meeting election tradition, in reference to previous claims made against them by the other candidate.

The videos above showcase some of those character and policy rebuttals. Griffin's video is featured as the first video because he spoke before Woolsey on Tuesday.

Candidates in the contested Hampton School Board and Hampton Budget Committee races, as well as the sole candidate in the uncontested Hampton Planning Board race, also outlined their viewpoints during three-minute spots in front of the audience Tuesday. A separate story about the school board and budget committee races will be posted in the near future.
