Local Bank Helping Those Hit by Goverment Shutdown
A credit union will keep the paychecks rolling in for local military and defense personnel through its new "Government Shutdown prgoram."

Service Credit Union will credit direct deposit for military and DoD government service (GS) members affected by the government shutdown through its “Government Shutdown program.”
Service Credit Union’s Government Shutdown program automatically deposits the amount of military or DoD civilian government service (GS) pay into the member’s account, based on their last received direct deposit to the credit union.
“We wish to minimize and ensure that our military and DoD civilian members do not encounter any financial hardship, inconvenience and/or financial harm due to the government shutdown” says Gordon Simmons, President/CEO of Service Credit Union. “Service Credit Union is honored to support our loyal members with this safety net.”

Those military and DoD civilian employees who are affected by the government shutdown, and are not members of Service Credit Union can open up an account with direct deposit of their net pay and qualify for future Government Shutdowns.
When the member’s DFAS direct deposit is received, the funds Service Credit Union deposited to the member’s account prior to receiving the actual funds will be automatically deducted from the member’s account by Service Credit Union.
