Maine Man Accused Of Driving More Than 120 MPH On I-95: New Hampshire State Police

NORTH HAMPTON, NH — Another person from Maine was arrested on Tuesday after being accused by New Hampshire State Police of reckless operation on Interstate 95.

Around 3 a.m., a trooper monitoring traffic reported seeing a 2018 Nissan Sentra speeding on the southbound side of the Interstate in Greenland. The car was clocked at 109 mph, Amber Lagace, a public information officer for the department, said.

She noted the speed limit on that section of the highway was 65 mph.

As the driver entered North Hampton, the trooper “pulled into traffic behind the Nissan and began attempting to close the distance between his cruiser and the Nissan at which time the Nissan continued accelerating rapidly,” she said.

While attempting to reduce the distance between the vehicles, the trooper reported clocking the car at speeds of more than 120 mph, Lagace said.

The trooper activated the cruiser’s emergency lights, and the driver of the Nissan, Hao Jin, 23, of Portland, Maine, “eventually” pulled over near Exit 2, she said.

Jin was arrested on a reckless operation charge and was released. He is due in Hampton District Court on Feb. 9, 2023.

“The New Hampshire State Police reminds all motorists to obey posted speed limits and to drive with courtesy and care when on New Hampshire roadways,” Lagace said.
