NH Launches 'Prepay' Toll System for E-ZPass-less Drivers
Motorists without transponders can now skip the cash lines, although each trip will cost more than those with E-ZPasses.

Drivers without E-ZPass transponders can now use E-ZPass and high-speed lanes at New Hampshire toll booths thanks to a new system that allows motorists to deposit money in a prepaid toll account.
Motorists can use a credit card to electronically allocate any amount of money toward toll booth visits after opening an "Prepay a NH Trip" account with an initial minimum balance of at least $1, according to the state Department of Transportation.
The idea is that trips through toll booths can be prepaid, and money is withdraw from the account each time a participating vehicle passes through, much like the way money is deducted from cars E-ZPass transponders and accounts.
Unlike E-ZPass, though, the toll fares aren't discounted under the prepay system, but multiple vehicles can use the same prepay account, according to NHDOT.
More information about how prepaid vehicles are recognized by the toll booths, as well as information on how to sign up, can be found here.
