North Hampton L.L. Bean Employees Could Get Big Raises

After seeing modest revenue gains, a retail chain is rewarding full- and part-time employees in a big way.

L.L. Bean reportedly saw "significant improvement in productivity" last year while celebrating its 100th anniversary and opening a new store in North Hampton, so the Maine-based retailer plans to pay out a 7.5 percent pay bonus to about 5,000 full- and part-time employees, according to the Boston Globe.

The Boston Globe has reported that L.L. Bean, which has a combined 33 retail and outlet stores from Virginia to Maine as well as 20 in Japan and 62 in China, reported revenue was up slightly from $1.517 billion in 2011 to $1.521 billion in 2012.

L.L. Bean President Chris McCormick reportedly said in a statement that the company has "performed very well in a continuing volatile retail environment," and thanks to a larger focus on online sales, he said the company's apparel and sporting goods departments saw their highest sales in company history in 2012, according to the Boston Globe.
