North Hampton Man Arrested on Child Porn Charges

Several police agencies assisted in a local investigation that recovered an undisclosed number of images.

A 53-year-old North Hampton man was arrested Friday after police searched his 18 Fern Road home and found an undisclosed number of images depicting children engaged in sexually explicit acts.

North Hampton Police Detective Steven Janvrin said Mathew Morvillo was charged with two counts of possession of child sexual abuse images after the search warrant was executed.

Morvillo turned himself in on Friday following the search and was later released on bail, according to Janvrin. The incident is still under investigation, and Janvrin said Monday that additional details about the arrest and the number of images recovered wouldn't be disclosed at this time.

Janvrin said the New Hampshire Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Hampton, Portsmouth, Greenland and Derry police departments assisted during the service of the search warrant.

Morvillo is scheduled for arraignment in Hampton District Court at 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 14.

Police are asking anyone with additional information about this or other crimes to contact Janvrin at (603) 964-2198, ext. 3001, or at sjanvrin@northhampton-nh.gov.
