Murder-for-Hire Accomplice Denied New Trial

A judge has ruled there are still too many corroborating statements against Robin Knight to warrant a new trial.

Robin Knight, a 61-year-old North Hampton man serving a life sentence without parole for luring Derry resident Jack Reid to his death in 2005, has been denied a new trial, according to the Union Leader.

Knight, convicted on an accomplice to first-degree murder charge, sought a new trial late last year based on claims that his defense council didn't fully vet testimony by former cellmate-turned-star witness Henry Bellemare, whom Knight has claimed set him up.

The Union Leader has reported that Rockingham Superior Court Chief Justice Tina Nadeau rejected the retrial request in a 21-page order that concluded Knight "would still have been convicted even if she had agreed to throw out statements made by his one-time cell mate" because of statements Knight made during police interviews and because of other testimony against Knight.
