NRC to Discuss Seabrook Station Issues Thurs.

The public session is designed to continue conversations about the nuclear power plant's owners' corrective measures.

Above is a copy of the notice and agenda for a Thursday meeting between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and NextEra Energy, of the owners of Seabrook Station nuclear power plant, to discuss the status of the plant's concrete degradation issues.

The meeting will take place in Maryland and the public is invited to attend, although NRC officials state in the release that more resident-oriented meetings will be scheduled in the future.

A revised timeline was recently released for the oft-delayed ruling on Seabrook Station's preemptive 20-year license renewal. Still-unresolved issues related to the concrete degradation, caused by an alkali-silica reaction, are expected to delay the timeline by roughly another eight months.
