The New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals last week took 52 lovebirds into its care after a local resident could no longer care for them because of a medical problem.
All of the birds appear to be in good health, the group said.
“This was a case of someone who, due to medical concerns, was simply over their head, said Sue Harrington, of the SPCA. “The birds were allowed to breed uncontrolled and it eventually became too many.”
The SPCA said the birds will be adopted out as same-sex pairs to prevent another breeding problem.

The group asked for the public's help with the case, saying it needs cages, perches, small toys, and food for the birds.
