Police Rule Out Foul Play in Death on Barbour Road
Officers taped off what they called "familiar" home in Hampton Sunday evening after a body was found inside.

An autopsy has determined that a Hampton woman found dead inside her Barbour Road home Sunday evening died due to a heroin overdose and not due to foul play.
Information was limited Monday because authorities are still investigating the incident, but Hampton Deputy Police Chief Rich Sawyer said no charges have been issued even though police are "familiar with" the home where the woman was found because there have been multiple calls and investigations involving individuals within the home.
Sawyer said his department is still working to notify family members, and therefore said he wouldn't release the address of the home or the deceased woman's name early Monday afternoon.
Police were first called to the home Sunday evening after the woman was found by her ex-husband. Police have determined the man wasn't home during the time of his ex-wife's death, according to Sawyer.
Neighbors told Hampton-North Hampton Patch that officers were seen entering and exiting the home, and crime scene tape still surrounded the property Monday.
Sawyer said officers "unfortunately see too many of [these] things occur" in town, and that the overdose is a symptom of a growing concern in the state.
"Heroin has been a substantial problem throughout the Seacoast and Southern New Hampshire," said Sawyer. "We have a heroin problem on the Seacoast, and this is another tragic example of that. Through education and enforcement, we need to try and stop this problem because people are dying from it."
Police don't believe the heroin overdose is connected to any other recent heroin arrests or activity in the area.
