Route 1A Closed in North Hampton Until About 2 p.m.

There was a lot of police and onlooker activity on Ocean Boulevard Wednesday due to a road closure encompassing the famous curve just north of North Hampton State Beach.

A dispatcher with the North Hampton Police Department said officers are on the scene as part of a private detail for a "car commercial" of some kind, which is why the roadway is closed.

The police presence has nothing to do with a crime, accident or other investigation, she said.

The private-funded police detail is scheduled until 2 p.m., which is when the roadway is expected to reopen.

The curve is a popular spot for photographers, painters and other artists due to its unique view of the Seacoast.
